Code of conduct

All attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers and staff are required to follow this code of conduct. Organisers will enforce it throughout the event.

01

Our commitment

PyConf is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.

We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks, workshops, social events and online media.

02

Expected behaviour

  • 01Be respectful and considerate towards other attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers and staff.
  • 02Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory or harassing behaviour and speech.
  • 03Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow participants.
  • 04Alert conference staff if you notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or a violation of this code of conduct.
03

Unacceptable behaviour

Harassment includes:

  • 01Offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion or technology choices.
  • 02Sexual images in public spaces.
  • 03Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following.
  • 04Harassing photography or recording.
  • 05Sustained disruption of talks or other events.
  • 06Inappropriate physical contact.
  • 07Unwelcome sexual attention.
  • 08Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour.
04

Scope

This code of conduct applies at all conference venues and conference-related social events, and in the conference's online spaces. Sponsors are also subject to it: booth staff, displays and materials should not use sexualised images, activities or other material.

05

Consequences

Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, the organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expelling them from the conference with no refund.

06

Reporting

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately, or email the address below.

Conference staff can help you contact venue security or local law enforcement, or otherwise assist you to feel safe for the duration of the conference.
